SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

1. Civil Engineering Scholarships are available through UK, WKU, and KSU. Deadline is March 1. Award is $1, 845 per semester and renewable for four years. Summer jobs are available with the award.

2. Mining Scholarships are available through UK. Various scholarships are available and renewable each year.

3. Educational Communication Scholarships-One hundred fifty $1,000 awards are given and the deadline is June 1.

4. UK College of Engineeting Scholarships-Deadline is January 5.

5. National FFA Scholarships- Deadline is Feburary 15.

6. Sullivan College- Awards are $500 per quarter for a maximum of six consecutive quarters.

7. Governer's KY Tech Scholarships- Full tuition is provided for two years. Requirements include: 3.0 gpa, four character reference letters, three writing portfolio entries, 2-page statement concerning chosen field of study, high school and community involvement. Deadline is January 1.

8. GEMS (Guaranteed Entrance into Medical School Award) - U of L awards 10 Kentucky residents who are entering college for the first time and are guaranteed a spot on U of L's Medical School after completion of Bachelor's Degree.

9. Eastern Kentucky University Academic and Music Scholarships-Deadline is February 1. Students must audition at Eastern for music scholarships.

10. Service Merchandise Scholarships- One hundred non-renewable $500 scholarships are awarded. Awards are based on academic achievement, participation in school and communtity activities, work experience. Financial need is not a consideration. Applications must be picked up at Service Merchandise. The deadline for applications is January 15.

11. Mitch McConnell Scolarships for Political Leadership through U of L. Requirements include: major or minor in Political Science, 3.o gpa, ACT composite of 21, an essay and three letters of recommendation. Awards range from $250 to full tuition. Deadline is January 31.

12. McDonald's Educational Assistance Program- This program offers assistance to a McDonald's employee for up to $250 per semester in book reimbursement. Requirement includes: be a current employee for that semester and attend the entire semester of school, work an average of 20 hours/week, be a full-time student and maintain a 2.5 gpa. 13. Kentucky Farm Bureau- requirements include: 3.5 gpa or an ACT Composite of 23 and the student must be a child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau family. Various scholarships awards are given. Deadline is Febuary 27.

14. Physics Scholorships are available through UK. Student must major in physics. The terms and amounts of the awards vary, but typically cover the cost of in-state tuition and fees for one year. The awards are renewable. Deadline for receipt of the applications is February 16.

15. Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP) assists high school seniors who intend to pursue a career as a physician or dentist. Participation begins with a Prefreshman Summer Workshop sponsered by UK and U of L which helps the students get off to a good academic start. Students are selected by the universities and an oppurtunity to meet, study and work with medical and dental students. The workshop is a 6-week program that is free as long as your family has an ajusted gross income $75,000. Deadline is February 26.

16. Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants - Ten $500 scholorships are awarded to students who have an interest in becoming a certified public accountant. Criteria include: ACT scores, letter of recomendation and career statement. Student must attend a KEntucky college or university. Materials must be postmarked before March 1.
